Mystery Reader Sign Up
Mystery Reader is a secret signup for parents who would like to come in and read to the class. Mystery Reader signup will be for Wednesdays at 12:25. You will have 15 - 20 minutes.
At this time, please choose only one slot. Please understand that unexpected changes to the school schedule do occur throughout the year, and when they do, Mystery Readers will be contacted as soon as possible to reschedule.
Once you've signed up for a date to come read to our class, you can start thinking of a couple books you would like to bring to read. Having a couple backup books is always a good idea, in case we recently read one of the books. If you don't have a book, I am glad to provide one. The week of your visit, I will send you a reminder, along with a request for five clues to read to the students the day of your visit. These clues should start general and become more specific. By the fifth clue, your child should be able to guess that you are the special mystery reader for the day. To allow students time to guess, please wait in the stairway across from Ms. Huff's Room so students cannot see you. I will come and get you from the hallway.
Please be mindful to ask students to raise their hands when they have a question or a comment. This will help the read aloud move along smoothly. Also, please make sure to show all students the pictures. Students sitting on the corners of the rug often have trouble seeing the pictures unless you point the book at them after you have read the page.

Star Student Sign Up
Star Student is an opportunity for students to share about who they are, what they like, and people they care about. With your help, students are asked to make a poster of different things that represent them. This can include pictures of family, vacations, or their favorite interests. Please also include their name on the poster. Students will bring in their poster on a Monday and share it with the class. Students will have their poster hung up outside the classroom and be the star student for the week. On Friday, the star student will be able to invite two students to eat lunch with the teacher back in the classroom.
